Beloved, it is said by some that there is unity when believers agree upon essential doctrine, but for non-essential doctrine there does not need be agreement. First, where does any of the apostolos say this in their writings ?(the New Testament it is called.) They do not. Please do not tell me about Romans and a matter of conscience. This does not show there is non-essential doctrine, quite the contrary, “Him that is weak in the faith receive, but not doubtful disputations.” (thoughts of judgment) What, is it not important for those who are strong in the faith to have wisdom to minister to those weak? Of course it is! There is sound doctrine and then there is heresias (opinion).
Now to dispel those who are contentious and will not cease from being contentious, let me quote, from 1 Cor 7, and the apostolos Paul, “Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called, therein abide with God. Now concerning “virginity” I have no commandment of the Lord, (no law of grace, the way things are in the grace of God, such as the law of love) as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. I suppose that this is good for the present distress, I say that it is good for a man so to be.” Paul say he “supposes”, he gives his thought, as one who has obtained mercy about the subject of virginity “in this present distress”. He does not give a law of grace, as love is, but he gives his thought, as one who has obtained mercy (mercy has obtained him). In verse 6 he says “I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.” The Greek word translated permission means “knowing together”, both parties having understanding at the same time. If both parties do not understand, the words I speak do not apply, he declares. In verse 9 he sums up the thought, “for it is better to marry than to burn.” It is better to marry than to burn in the judgment (Yerushalem in 70 AD) that follows the present distress.
Paul speaks of marriage and virginity in words seasoned with grace and life, o contentious man. You argue using the passages that I mentioned, that there are non-essentials doctrines. Your arguments are doctrines of death, of diabolos, of the false accuser.
So now stepping aside from the contentious, for they are always and will be contentious, what are non-essential doctrines. There are none. Even Paul sharing to the assembly what he had been taught of God about virginity and marriage is essential doctrine. For have not those who have a form of godliness, forbid marriage, and more so, forbid people to marry Christ with their dead laws and traditions of men.
Or perhaps they will say the false doctrine of “the rapture” is a non-essential doctrine. So it is not important to know according to truth what will happen to believers when the judgment of God falls upon the earth. This false doctrine has people waiting in the place of judgment to be taken out just before judgment comes. Foolishness! There is no witness in the scriptures (Old Testament) to believers being supernaturally taken out just before the wrath of God falls on the earth. Enoch and Elijah were not taken out before judgment, and their taking out is not understood by the many false prophets.
What other non-essential doctrine do they give for examples, of the Lord’s supper. The Lord supper that is done as often ye eat this bread and drink this cup has no law. Teh Lord’s Supper is partaken as often as you would. The carnal man will not find truth in anything he does. Of baptism? How many say that baptism proceeds grace when it is evident by Paul, that grace proceeds baptism. The choosing according to God will proceed baptism. What other non-essential doctrine? The multitude of denominations that divide Christ (who is not divided). All their dead doctrine, attempting to obtain the knowledge of God through carnal means. The carnal mind is at emnity with the things of God.
Beloved they tell you there is unity when we agree on the essentials and the non-essentials do not matter, and they are lost, and are perishing, and await the judgment of God. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
I need not speak unique words of understanding, only repeat the words of Paul. “if there be any thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.” and “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears, and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
The one true gospel which I preach is sound doctrine and the truth. And there is one doctrine, the doctrine of Yeshua ha Mashaich. All the doctrine of the Mashiach is essential. It is man-made doctrine that is not essential, such as water baptism proceeding conversion, chruch attendance, tithing, church memebership, etc, etc.
